地大

Earth as one of the [lang id =1028]四大 four elements, [lang id =1028]地 earth, [lang id =1028]水大 water, [lang id =1028]火大 fire, and [lang id =1028]風大 air (i. e. air in motion, wind); to these [lang id =1028]空大 space (Skt. (sa) ākāśa) is added to make the [lang id =1028]五大 five elements; [lang id =1028]識 (sa) vijñāna, perception to make the six elements; and [lang id =1028]見 (sa) darśana, views, concepts, or reasonings to make the seven elements. The esoteric sect use the five fingers, beginning with the little finger, to symbolize the five elements.

為地、 水、 火、 風四大種之一， 即是能造一切色法的四種元素之一， 以堅實為性。 《大乘廣五蘊論》載： ‘云何地界？ 謂堅强性。’ 地大是基本的能造色。

◆地以堅礙為性。 謂眼耳鼻舌身等名為地大， 若不假水， 則不和合。 經云： 髮毛爪齒、 皮肉筋骨等， 皆歸於地。 是也。 ◆麤為大地， 細為微塵。 析則成空， 合聚為地。 眾生昏迷， 但見其相， 不知地性融通， 遍周法界， 隨眾生心， 循業發現， 清淨本然， 寧有方所， 故名地大。 （循業， 即隨業也。 ） ◆地以堅礙為性， 謂眼、 耳、 鼻、 舌、 身等名為地大。 圓覺經云： 髮、 毛、 爪、 齒、 皮、 肉、 筋、 骨等皆歸於地。 是也。

地以堅為性， 以能持為用， 而且周遍於一切物質， 所以叫做大。 四大之一。
